Very little is known about Daddy’s sibling Ellen Eley.
Our family visited her and her family when I was growing up, but that was sixty
years ago. Our family moved away from West Carroll Parish, in the summer of
1957.
Ellen was the third child born to Alice Lee Eley. Ellen's parents were Alice Lee and
Jackson Lawrence Eley. She was born 18 May 1916 in Floyd, West Carroll Parish,
Louisiana. Ellen married John H. Holton probably in West Carroll Parish. The
estimated marriage date is about 1937. Their first child was born 1 December
1937 in the village of Pioneer. They had eight surviving children.
Ellen Eley and John H. Holton are interred in the
Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Ellen Eley Holton
died 4 February 1992 in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. John H. Holton
died 22 June 1992 in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.
