Welcome to Esther's Roots and Ramblings

I suppose you could call me a self appointed genealogist/family historian since none of my seven siblings took up the task. I am a genealogist/family historian for my Eley family. Genealogical research is a hobby that I enjoy very much. I have been researching family lines for fifteen years, and have had success in some lines and hit brick walls in others. I have broken through brick walls using tips from good genealogy books, genealogy bloggers, genealogy webinars, speakers at seminars and conferences, by joining genealogical societies, and by subscribing to genealogy magazines. One of the ways that I have found in overcoming brick walls is researching collateral lines and researching those other people in the lives of my ancestors.

I use genealogical research and DNA to verify my familial lineage and do thorough research on each line. DNA is another tool in genealogical research and is useful in connecting and proving relationships.

I set up this blog to share genealogical information and connect with others who are researching these family lines that I have posted in my surname list.
